Enhance Scalability

Tank Gauging - Scalable Tank Data Management

Scalable Tank Data Management

The Rosemount 2460 System Hub collects and stores field data while supporting redundancy and third-party integration. It ensures seamless power and system communication for streamlined tank operations.

Key benefits include: a fast data update rate for up to 64 tanks, scalable expansion options, flexible port connectivity, and emulation capabilities for integrating data from other vendor gauges.

Tank Gauging - Replace Field Devices

Replace Field Devices

Tank gauging emulation enables easy replacement of old level gauges from all major suppliers with modern radar level gauges, one gauge at a time, with minimal disruption and without the need for a large-scale investments.

New gauges “speak the language” of the old, meaning no changes are required for communication or field wiring, and the existing host system can still be used.

Tank Gauging - Upgrade Control Room

Upgrade the Control Room

Make cost-efficient step by step upgrades of existing equipment with emulation. Modernize communication to and from the control room with a field collector unit that speaks multiple languages.

Use existing cabling and communication protocols for quick and easy installation. Start with upgrading your inventory management software, continue with replacing old field instrumentation.

Tank Gauging - Connect Wirelessly

Connect Wirelessly

Easily add wireless instrumentation to automate tank farm operations. Connect previously isolated tanks and deliver tank gauging data to the control room without cabling.

Eliminate long-distance field wiring, reduce installation costs, simplify operations, and ensure regulatory compliance. Wireless infrastructure scales to align with your digital transformation roadmap and investment needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most frequently asked questions about Tank Gauging.

Tank gauging is the measurement of liquids in large storage tanks with the purpose of quantifying the product volume and mass of the product in the tanks. This highly accuracy system is widely used in refineries, the oil and gas and petrochemical industry, distribution and pipeline terminals, fuel depots, airport fueling and chemical storage. The information from a tank gauging system is used for many different purposes including: oil movement and operations, inventory control, custody transfer, loss control and mass balance, volume reconciliation, overfill prevention, leak detection.

Highest custody transfer accuracy, safety and overfill compliance, real-time inventory control, reliable product transfer for instance oil and gas inventory (every drop counts for financial transactions).

Special considerations must be taken into account when using radar tank gauges for pressure applications. Firstly, the unit must withstand the tank pressure and meet the safety standards written around pressure vessels. Secondly, the radar gauge must be manufactured so that it can effectively cope with the challenges that high vapor pressure may cause in such tanks. Thirdly, the radar tank gauge should have some means of performance verification during normal tank conditions.

Yes, there are several options using Modbus TCP or OPC being the most common one.

Rosemount™ TankMaster ™ includes a proof-test manager, which allows operators to safely perform proof-testing of overfill alarm functionality remotely from the control room.

  • The proof-testing made at regular intervals can be combined with the continuous product level monitoring.

  • Proof-test report: when the proof test is finalized and approved, a test report is automatically created. The test report includes field device-specific information, detailed test results, when the test was performed, who performed the test, and who approved it.

  • Proof-test history: all proof-test reports can easily be displayed on a later occasion using the proof-test history option.

  • Proof-test scheduling: the proof-test scheduling lets the user specify when the next proof-test should be performed. The test frequency and the desired type of reminder may also be set (pop-up message and/or e-mail).
