Condition Monitoring for Challenging Mining Pit Conveyor Applications
As an arterial system in most mining operations, bulk conveyors must be properly monitored and maintained to avoid costly repairs, time-consuming and unsafe manual inspections, and unplanned downtime that could bring your entire process to a halt. Emerson can help minimize downtime with condition-based monitoring systems and wireless transmitters to continuously monitor critical components and provide safe and cost-effective data collection for continued conveyor operation.
Some components, such as the take-up pulley, are difficult to monitor because they travel as much as 100 feet. Wireless monitoring is ideal for this application, while online systems with tachometer inputs maybe be required for the variable speed operations on other parts of the conveyor.

The AMS Asset Monitor manages pervasive sensing while providing prediction, protection and process monitoring capabilities. It is designed to mount at the asset, reducing cabling requirements and other installation costs. For some rotating assets and the processes associated with them, periodic route-based data collection is insufficient to indicate asset health. Online condition monitoring provides the frequency and types of data necessary to stay on top of developing issues during normal operations and to respond quickly to sudden changes during transient conditions. Emerson’s AMS 6500 Machinery Health Monitor is a versatile, scalable system that can be deployed in a variety of configurations to deliver online condition monitoring exactly as needed for the application.

The AMS Wireless Vibration Monitor delivers full vibration data over a self-organizing wireless mesh network. It provides rich information about machinery health for both operations and maintenance personnel. Overall vibration, PeakVue measurements and temperature readings can be easily integrated into any control system or plant historian, while diagnostic data can be displayed by AMS Device Manager and AMS Machine Works software with alert broadcast via the AMS Optics asset performance platform.
