What are slam-shut valves?

Slam-shut valves are overpressure protection safety devices that rapidly and totally shut off the gas flow in case of failure. They are designed to prevent equipment damage from exceeding the maximum allowable operating pressure. One advantage of a slam-shut valve is overpressure protection by containment, reducing gas emissions.
