Boiler Bottom Blowdown, Drain, and Vent Valves

Severe service isolation valves are needed for many applications in the power generation industry and in water-tube boiler applications in refining, chemical, petrochemical, and pulp and paper. High pressure and temperature water and steam require specialized valve designs and materials to withstand erosive and corrosive conditions and still provide reliable, tight shutoff.

Boiler Bottom Blowdown Valves

What are Boiler Bottom Blowdown Valves?

Bottom blowdown valves (also known as blowoff valves or intermittent blowdown valves) flush suspended solids from inside boilers. Suspended solids accumulate at the bottom of the boiler as sludge and can inhibit heat transfer from the boiler tubes. Bottom blowdown involves brief, intense blasts to agitate and remove the sludge. The blowdown frequency depends on the water quality.
